"When I first saw the story of Agnes and Amir, it felt like a fairy tale to me: warm, improbable, and yet profoundly true. The fact that deeper conflicts unfold beneath the surface, with very serious issues forming the foundation of both the film and the true story behind it, is what makes it so remarkable.
As I began working on the soundtrack, a musical space quickly started to take shape. The film’s sense of longing is closely connected to what I seek in my own music: connection, freedom, and hope in the space between imagination and reality. It was precisely this deeply human tension that became the driving force behind the compositions – and a beautiful challenge to explore these themes in all their nuances.
The music is intended to create spaces of connection: within the extraordinary friendship and almost romantic tension between Agnes and Amir, and between their story and everyone watching it – without ever turning away from the harsh realities of their lives. Beauty, after all, does not emerge from harmony without friction, but from contrast: from melancholy and hope, from the spaces in between, from the interplay of light and shadow.
The compositions will be released as the Original Score alongside the film’s theatrical release, and I personally hope they can help carry Agnes and Amir’s incredible story out into the world. To me, these pieces have long since become more than a film score. Agnes and Amir have become companions on my own journey."
