For Martin Kohlstedt it is always about discourse, transformation and reflection. The first two albums composed by the german pianist – TAG and NACHT – were put into the hands of talented musicians to work their magic. Now the pieces on STROM and STRÖME will be given their extraordinary siblings.

I would be very happy if you would share your impressions, memories and thoughts about my past concerts with me here.

If you want to support me and my music you can do so by purchasing it on CD, Vinyl, WAV and MP3 directly from my own web shop.

I decided for an improvised session caught on video at home in my apartment because this is the place where, between travels and concerts, all thoughts and memories flow together and want to be put in order. In contrasting unity of Day and Night ideas from my past as well as my album “Ströme” that was recorded in this exact space are put into context once again. All of the instruments are recorded live and layered anew in the loop station; the voices of the Gewandhaus choir are disected, sampled and discussed in a new way by means of electronic reproduction. The resulting pieces stay modular and a work in progress as well. This piece is inspired by AMSOMB & KSYCHA from my latest album „Ströme“.

My friend and videographer Patrick Richter has been accompanying me with his camera for several years now. The result is an extraordinary multi-part documentary about the roots of my music.

«Beyond Stage» is a long-term documentary project by my friend and photographer Peter Runkewitz about me and the life behind the scenes, which began in early 2013.

From time to time I write a newsletter. For me it’s important to let my thoughts circle around the project and to discuss it with you – to communicate more directly and focused apart from the often unspecific buzz of social media. I would be very happy to welcome you in this inner circle.
